INDEPENDENT CONSULTANCY · CLEAR SCOPE
Your systems. Your decisions. My advice.
I help you compare suitable products, services and suppliers for your needs and budget. I work as an external consultant through Rain Lee Productions, on a package or project-contract basis. A monthly allocation is scheduled consultancy time, not an employee role or an on-call staff position.
You decide what to approve and where to buy. I explain the options, trade-offs and known limitations with reasonable care and skill. Naming a brand does not mean I represent it, hold its installer accreditation or have its endorsement.
Projectors, TVs, LED displays, sound and PA
I can help plan display size and placement, viewing distance, room-light considerations, projector throw, inputs, audio signal flow, microphone needs, everyday operation and supplier requirements. A TV with an LED backlight and a modular direct-view LED wall are different systems, with very different installation needs.
Start with an RM250 AV consultation or RM480 small-room plan. Small AV setup is an optional RM450 package. Longer projects can use 6 hours of monthly consultancy for RM720, subject to fit. Large organisations, multi-site work and complex systems receive a written quote.
Execution is separately priced and accepted only for supported small-scale tasks or specifically agreed phases of a longer project. Being a long-term client does not automatically include installation, event staffing or unlimited work. Specialist contractors handle mounting, LED-wall assembly, mains wiring, rigging and certified technical work.
OPTIONAL MODELS · EQUIPMENT COSTS SEPARATE
Choose the system around the job.
I recommend options based on your space, existing devices, budget and willingness to maintain them. You choose the products and retailer. I am not an official representative, authorised installer or endorsed partner of the brands listed here.
Price references reviewed 4 October 2026. These are retailer listing snapshots and clearly labelled planning allowances, not stock held by me, fixed product offers or guaranteed checkout prices. Check the exact model, unit count, regional version, warranty, tax, delivery and availability before ordering. These reference links are non-affiliate; I receive no commission from them. Manufacturer links explain the product; retailer links are price references and open in a new tab. You can buy from any retailer. Confirm Malaysian warranty coverage and the claims process with your chosen seller.
Three units means one main unit and two nodes, not three kits. Keep compatible nodes within a supported mesh family. For fixed desks, displays and access points, I assess wired connections before adding more wireless hops. Guest / IoT separation is recommended only where the selected router, switches and access points actually support it.
A wired access-point option for small premises
A home mesh kit is not always the best fit for a shop or office. A shortlist may instead use a router, Ethernet cabling, a suitable PoE switch and access points such as the TP-Link Omada EAP610 · official specifications ↗. Avio lists this model at RM599 per access point · check Malaysian price ↗ (external retailer · equipment only; out of stock when checked); allow roughly RM600 each as a starting reference, with stock reconfirmed. This is not the price of a complete network.
Router, switch PoE budget, cables, controller if needed, mounting and configuration are additional line items. Alternative ecosystems can be assessed if you already own them or prefer another supplier. Larger networks, managed security, redundancy and service-level commitments need a specialist or bespoke scope.
My recommendation process
- Define the problem and reuse suitable equipment first.
- Check room size, walls, available power / data points, device models and your internet plan.
- Compare a practical option with an alternative; explain compatibility, subscriptions, warranty and expected upkeep.
- Agree exact models and costs before buying. Test the specified functions and provide the agreed handover when setup is booked.
Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Wi-Fi and a brand’s app are different parts of a system. A logo alone does not confirm that every feature works across platforms or without internet. We confirm the specific functions you need, account ownership and manual fallbacks before accepting the scope.
AV: choose the display and sound system before the product
After reviewing your brief, I provide the exact AV model’s manufacturer specifications and a Malaysian retailer price or supplier quote. For LED walls and installed systems, we compare the complete equipment and installation scope before you approve a purchase.
What your total includes
Consultancy / setup fee + approved equipment + optional procurement + approved travel / delivery + other agreed third-party costs. No equipment purchase is required to book advice.
Example using a RM649 three-pack: buy directly and add RM240 Wi-Fi setup = RM889. Add RM120 procurement assistance only if you want me to coordinate the order = RM1,009. Both examples exclude separately agreed travel, delivery and any applicable additional charges. They assume the retailer price is still available and the setup fits the published scope.
Smart-room example: RM180 planning + RM250–400 equipment allowance = RM430–580. Optional RM300 supported-device setup makes it RM730–880. Optional procurement adds RM120. Travel and other agreed costs remain separate; this is an illustration, not a combined package offer.
Your written quote confirms
- Exact model, hardware / regional version where relevant, quantity, condition, retailer and local warranty.
- Retailer total, delivery, applicable taxes, expiry and any procurement fee. Prices and substitutions need your approval.
- Service deliverables, working hours, revision / follow-up limits, assumptions, acceptance checks and dates.
- Who contracts with each installer or supplier, which work I perform and which work needs a specialist.
- Approved equipment is funded before purchase. Original receipts are supplied; no hidden mandatory markup. Accepted exempt-NGO work has RM0 Rain service and procurement fees; approved equipment and third-party costs remain payable.

Consultancy, equipment and guarantees
Are you an employee, a brand representative or an independent consultant?
I provide external consultancy under the agreed package or project contract. I am not employed by your organisation through these packages and do not represent the named manufacturers or retailers. Brand names identify optional products; they do not imply endorsement, authorised-dealer status or brand-specific installer certification.
Is equipment or installation included in the price?
Service prices pay for the listed work. Equipment, licences, shipping, contractor installation and approved travel are separate. Planning packages include no hands-on installation. A setup package includes only its explicitly stated configuration and handover tasks. You receive the total and approve extras before work or purchasing begins.
Can I choose a different brand, model or retailer?
Yes. I consider your existing equipment, budget and preferences. I may explain why a choice is unsuitable or decline work I cannot competently support. You make the final purchasing decision. My responsibility to provide reasonable care and skill in my advice remains.
Are these affiliate recommendations?
The model and price references in this equipment guide are ordinary, non-affiliate links. My own storefront is separately labelled. If an approved affiliate link is introduced later, a clear disclosure beside it will explain that I may receive a commission. You can always purchase elsewhere without affecting the agreed service fee.
Can you buy the equipment for me?
Yes, using the optional RM120 procurement-assistance package: up to 5 line items, 2 retailers and 1 hour of coordination. You approve the exact items and costs and fund the purchase first. Receipts are passed on. I do not use my own affiliate links for purchases I place on your behalf. Any extra work, retailer change or substitute needs approval.
Do you guarantee Wi-Fi speed, savings or that every device will work together?
I commit to reasonable care and skill, the agreed deliverables and the compatibility checks within scope. I do not promise a universal speed, coverage area, energy saving, uptime or compatibility with every future update. Before booking, we record your intended use, relevant dependencies and any acceptance checks. Applicable consumer guarantees and remedies still apply.
What happens if something in your work is wrong?
Contact info@rainleelj.com with the issue and project details. I acknowledge service complaints within 2 working days and agree an appropriate remedy and timeframe. An error in my agreed work is assessed and corrected without an extra service fee where correction is the appropriate remedy. A new request or a third-party fault is scoped separately. Refunds and other remedies available under applicable law remain available.
Can I book you to operate an event or install a large system?
Planning does not reserve an operator, installation crew or event date. Small supported setup tasks can be booked separately. Longer-term implementation support requires a specific task list, milestones and hours. Large displays, flown speakers, electrical work and specialist commissioning require suitable contractors. I can compare proposals and coordinate the agreed scope as your external consultant.
What does the client need to provide?
Accurate room plans or measurements, existing model numbers, intended uses, budget, access permission and one authorised person to approve decisions. On-site work needs safe access, suitable power and a working internet service where required. We confirm dependencies before booking; unexpected site conditions lead to a discussion, not unapproved charges.
More service questions
Which projects are a good fit?
Homes, small offices, studios, shops and community venues that need practical planning, clearer visitor information or manageable digital upkeep. Rain brings hands-on media, website and community IT coordination experience, including several NGO media and information projects.
What is Rain’s technical background and certification?
Rain’s background includes engineering and IT studies, practical media and community IT coordination, and the SOLIDWORKS Design Associate (CSWA) certification from Dassault Systèmes. Credential ID: C-GW8X5KF3NC.
The CSWA covers SOLIDWORKS CAD skills in parts, assemblies and drawing-related tasks. Read the certification scope. Each service package states the work Rain undertakes; specialist installation and certification are separately scoped.
Can I use my existing devices and choose my own retailer?
Yes. Share device models and current problems first. Recommendations consider reuse, compatibility, local controls, subscriptions and your budget. You can purchase directly from your preferred retailers; paid procurement is optional. Final models and substitutes need approval before ordering. Any commission-earning recommendation will be disclosed.
What does monthly maintenance include?
Choose website care, smart space / network care, or content care. Website care and smart-space / network care are RM250 for 2 hours/month; content care is RM490 for 4 hours. Larger allocations are listed above. Checks, changes, meetings, research and reporting all count. Rain confirms supported platforms, task priorities and dates before starting. Work exceeding the allowance needs approval. Unused time does not roll over.
These are scheduled care arrangements. They do not include 24/7 monitoring, unlimited requests, emergency callouts or a guaranteed fix time. On-site work, equipment and third-party fees are separate. Requests are acknowledged within 2 working days during an active care period; completion dates depend on the agreed task. Each monthly period renews only by agreement. There is no automatic recurring charge.
How do the stated hours work?
Project allocations cover briefing, preparation, production, quality checks, included revisions and handover. The fee buys the agreed deliverables; an underestimated delivery time alone does not create an extra charge. Monthly care is an hours-based task allowance, logged in 15-minute increments. Meetings and checks count, but unattended AI processing and background waiting do not.
Rain flags scope changes or a nearly-used monthly allowance before proceeding. Additional approved general creative / technical work is RM120/hour in 30-minute blocks, unless the chosen package states another rate. No additional work is charged without agreement.
Can NGOs receive free support?
Animal-welfare, mental-health and Buddhist organisations are exempt from Rain’s service fees by default. Other NGOs are reviewed case by case. See the free CSR tiers, availability and third-party cost policy.
Can we meet in person?
Yes. Coaching, website / social-media consultancy, AV advice and AI workflow sessions can be online or in person. See locations, formats and transparent travel supplements. There is no public walk-in office.
Who does the work, and how is AI used?
Work directly with Rain for planning, decisions, review and delivery. AI and automation may assist with research, drafting, coding, checks and routine tasks; Rain reviews the final work. If a project calls for work without generative AI, agree that requirement before the quote.
Client data and tool access are agreed before any AI-assisted processing. Passwords and private network details do not belong in the enquiry form. Accounts should remain client-owned, with limited access for the agreed work and an access handover when the project ends.
What needs a specialist installer?
Rain can prepare requirements and coordinate the agreed scope. Mains wiring, concealed cabling, drilling, motor fitting and permanent installations are separately arranged with suitable contractors. Engineering certification, fire and life-safety systems, statutory signage and enterprise building-management commissioning are outside these service packages.
